Dr. Biswarup Mukherjee received his Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Instrumentation engineering from West Bengal University of Technology, India in 2010 and his PhD in Electrical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) in 2015. During his Ph.D, he developed a medical simulation platform for ophthalmic anesthesia training and was awarded the best PhD thesis in electrical engineering at IIT Madras. His work at IIT Madras resulted in two patents, 3 journals, 6 conference publications and was recognized by a best paper award at World Congress of Ophthalmic Anesthesia 2012 and an international travel award at IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference 2012. He has served as a member of an expert panel on formulating technical specifications for mannequin based simulators for the Government of India.
Dr. Mukherjee joined the Sim group in 2015 as a post-doctoral research fellow, where he is presently working on a suite of modular enhancements for low-fidelity mannequins and is also involved in the development of an ocular and facial trauma simulator. His research interests include capacitive and magnetic sensing, virtual instrumentation, embedded systems and medical simulation.
