The Simulation Group

Background
Based in Boston at the Massachusetts General Hospital, The Simulation Group represents a vast array of disciplines involved in discovering the fundamental science necessary for medical simulation to "break through" into established medicine by improving medical education and increasing patient safety.

Our work focuses on cutting edge research that will transform medical training from the current apprentice model, which has remained unchanged for centuries, to realistic, real-time, authentic computer-based medical simulations. We are dedicated to performing the fundamental research that will mark a new era of medical practice, permitting a time when students, physicians, and residents will practice medicine without putting patients at risk. We are funded through major governmental grants, with secure funding through 2007.
